Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Overall best on April 12, 2008
The wait for this game was long and painful for some, but most are saying that it was well worth it.
The game plays exactly like the last two, you fight opponents trying to knock them off the screen. The more damage an opponent (or you) have the farther they fly back when you hit them. Some of the more significant differences in game play is the addition of powerful items, and the Final Smash. Which is used by breaking a smash ball. Each character has his/her own Final Smashes
A new element is the inclusion of third party characters. Namely Konami's Solid Snake and Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog.
Graphics are little improved over the Gamecube's graphics
The inclusion of online multiplayer is a new addition to the series, and probably one of the most important improvements. You can battle "With Anyone" which select opponents at random or "With Friends" where you need to exchange friendcodes prior to playing.
Overall, this game is one of the best on the Wii, if not the best.
Boogie (Microphone Included)
Not Very Fun on January 17, 2008
Boogie for the Wii is a game where you have to shake the Wii remote to dance around. While thats fine and sounds like a clever and fun game, it would probably be better if the rhythm you had to follow was actually the song's which was playing. There is a metronome beat that comes from the speaker on the Wii remote, appearently you have to follow that but its completely out of sync with the beat of the song. But really, you don't need to worry. Just flail your arms around, and you'll do fine.
The singing in this game is easy to do, mostly because it will accept anything, as long as it is somewhat close to the thing you are trying to sing. At least in pitch.
The game is easy, and while some people may thing Easy = Fun, well. This game just isn't fun to play. Don't waste your money and go ahead and get soemthing good. Like Warioware or Super Mario Galaxy, whatever you do.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
I played for 5 minutes. I got the general idea of the entire game. on October 23, 2007
So one saturday afternoon, my dad walks in and he had finally managed to snag a Wii for me. And with it, he brought a couple games to go with it. Unfortunately, this game was one of those.
The moment I saw it, I knew I was in for a bad experience. I popped it in and began playing, at first it seemed ok. Learning the controls was fun as I figured out how to utilize the Wii Remote to slash my sword and how to properly use the three sidearms you get. Which include bombs, throwing knives and my personal favorite: the pistol.
I played for a good five minutes, and if there wasn't one thing I noticed immediately: it was that I was doing the exact same thing all the time. Everytime some enemy popped up; I'd be flailing the Wii Remote around like a monkey having a seizure. Occasionally stopping to shoot a gun, or throw a bomb.
And to distract you from the repetativeness for but a few bleak moments, you'd be able to help Jack out of some situation by performing what they so cleverly named a "jackanism" which just involved you flailing the Wii Remote in a certain direction, or pressing a specific button whenever it appeared onscreen. These jackanisms lasts for maybe a few short moments before you got back to the ol' slashin' n' hackin' that we love so very much.
I wish I could say that the graphics were at least good, but to be honest: They weren't. Considering that the game was on a next-gen system, you'd expect this field to be a bit more thrilling, but the graphics in this game can easily be done on PS2 or Gamecube. Unfortunately, they wouldn't be impressive on those systems either.
Go ahead and see the movie. But unless you are a hardcore fan and must, or if you are a robot who enjoys completely repetative tasks, do yourself a favor and avoid this game.
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
The game just won't die--- and thats not a bad thing! on October 23, 2007
Alas, here we are again. Just as we thought that this fad had come and gone, it got up and struke again. Packed with the features from the PS2 Special edition and loaded with new Wii controls Resident Evil 4 makes its return.
The gameplay is completely unaltered, which is you're Leon Kennedy. An American secret service agent dispatched to locate and rescue to president's daughter. Which ends up taking you to some remote village in spain? (Which I half wonder how she got there in the first place)
The graphics haven't been improved any since the PS2 version, but its still better looking than the majority of the games out for Wii.
The new controls are amazing, especially if you're the type of person who just aims better if you can point and click. Being a veteran of the game, I found that I could breeze through this with the improved accuracy. Although, the con of these new controls is that they tend to have a few hiccups occasionally in particular, when you switch to your inventory then switch back in the midst of a critical moment, you may find that the controls go out of control then. Another odd aspect of the controls is that you can't move your direction simply by pointing the cursor offscreen. You need to use the nunchuck attachment for that.
Overall, its the same deal with a little extra something. Although I personally would have liked to see some new features added to the game. Such as the ability to move while shooting, and I would have liked if this game did without the annoying crosshair curser. I liked laser of the other two games alot better. If you'd like to relive a grand experience on the Wii, with improved accuracy or are just a Resident Evil fan. Then you definately should get this game. If you are looking for something new, then turn away and wait for the sequel.
