So I picked up GoW2 today and just by the packaging you can tell it is going to be good. It comes with the game and an extras disk with all kinds of movies to watch. I watched all the extra features first. They were very entertaining and got me warmed up for the game. So far I'm just past the first level which is very impressive. I don't want to spoil any surprises for anyone but the game is gory and sexual as expected. Kratos gets it on with a few of the locals and it shows frontal nudity. Anyways, I recommend it so far!

Good game, not as great as the first though

If you played the first game, you know pretty much what you're in for, so I won't bore you with the details about that. This game is much shorter than the first, but makes up for it with having a lot more unlockable features, and it comes with a bonus dvd.

Some of the things that stand out (badly):

Whereas the first game pretty much taught you everything as you went along, you will find this game assumes you know a lot about the first. Some things are there where there is no explanation, and for those people who never played the first, it will be pretty confusing for a while.

There is a lot more frustration in this one that the first. A lot of dying, not from the difficulty which seems to be pretty tame, but form just trying to figure out what to do next. That takes down a little from the enjoyment.

Also, the length is shorter than the first, and to try to make up for that, they have added I think, more secrets than the first. This is ok, but more gameplay hours would have been nice. It seems like the secrets are just there to get you your red orbs filled faster, and this seems like a cop-out.

Anyway, with that in mind, if you liked the first, there is no reason you would not like this one. They do a great job of the cinematics, and there are a lot of new features and abilities in this compared to the first. A very decent game overall.

Amazing but...

This game is one of the best games ever made. It is amazing but is not as shocking and amazing as the first. The first was a stepping stone in the gaming developement.

God of War 2's shocking violence was achieved greatly. My mouth was ledt open in awe at some of the sadistic this that were possible in this game. All of the action is solid. I mean all of it. The times when I was bored were the frequent puzzles. Don't get me wrong, the puzzles were great, but I think too many were put in.

The Graphis were better than the first. The cut scenes were amazing.

The music is just as good as the first. The game's musical score set some very intense moods, and very sad moods. It is virtually perfect.

This game never gets old. I got it the second day it came out, and I am still playing it. When you beat the game, you can reload the game to start a new game with everything you earned.

Over all this game was perfect but........ I would get the first God of War.

A must Have.. one of the best sequels.. more action more blood and more killing.. just great .. cool greek mythology lesson .. good story line .. makes you want to reserve god of war 3 as soon as possible.. 9 out of 10 .

The Game

I say its not as good as the first one but the grapics are awsome.You reassume the role of our bald headed frined kratos the god of war.But the gods get tired of kratos destroying everything so they take his mighty godly powers.Next kratos has only one goal to destroy olimpus and the gods.But not all is easy you will encounter mighty foes,harder puzzles,harder bosses,and some old enemeys.you will be able to get posidens rage at the begging of the game you will get more magic attacks,stronger weapons, new abiltys like being able to swig to platform frome platform.plus tons of bouns features like unlocking all of the urns.If you are a true god of war fan you must own this game it will get ya.

If you liked the first one you will defintely enjoy this. Similar structure and combat, but with new weapons puzzle ideas and enemies. If you haven't played the first, then pick both of these up at the same time because the series is one of the best ever made.

Amazing graphics, stubborn, frustrating gameplay

Not nearly as complete or outstanding as the first, the second will still be a pretty fun game to play, but would you play it a second time through? Not sure. It doesn't give you as much help as the first, and assumes that you have played that one to understand how to play. Decent game, not something you will play again and again.

Good game but confusing at times

Well the fact that you get a extra disk with bonus content at no extra charge is great. I was pleased with what was on the disk when i watched it. The gameplay on this game is very good. Most of the time you can find out what to do pretty easily but occasionally you will come across real "head scratchers" if you will. Some puzzles on the game are very confusing at times. Some levels i had a very hard time with but i got past them in a few hours. It took me around 15 hours to beat the game which was pretty impressive but i would like for it to have took longer to beat due to the fact that there is little to no replay value to this game. Once you beat the game you will not want to play it again. Overall i give it a 7/10. I would recommend this game to almost anyone.

+ the graphics are crazy good, way more bosses, harder puzzles, more costumes, more weapons, awsome storyline, play it over and over, and more secrets.

-short game( took me only 7 hours to beat), harder game, no camra control, and harder controls than the first .

i give it 10-10 stars. i would reccomend it to anyone with a ps2.

From the moment I beat god of war1 I was already thinking about the second one which sony was talking about as well. The ending of this game is incredible. During one of the last few boss battles you better prepare yourself for the most action packed-gory ending to a boss battle.

I think that the graphics on God Of War II are amazing. The graphical design is out of this world! All my friends are jealous because I have it, mostly because I got it within the first week that it came out.All in all, God Of War has an outstanding graphical design.That is what my review on God Of War II is about.

power galore

the second in stallment in the god of war trilogy, yes its a trilogy, has once again put us in awe. the graphics push the ps2 to its limits, and the environments are astonoshing. what i liked most about gow2 was the new weapons you are able to wield. the barbarian hammer, the spear of destiny, and of course the blade of olympus. my favorite is the spear because it gives you mush more range in a multi person battle than the hammer or the blade. and the new magic is pretty good to. i didnt like however that they brought back the gorgan head, i didnt like the first time why would i like it now? but i was impressed to see the new abilities it had once you reached full power.

When I 1st got this game I was shocked how good it is.The graphics are amzing I cant believe they pulled this off on the PS2.The levels are huge and you fight hude and tough bosses.The combos are fantastic I love slashing up people with chains and a sword and when the enemie is in the air you can yank them back down with your chains,this game is totally awesome!

I own this game and have played many times over just because of all the differnt things you can do with costumes and urns of power and then theres the chalenge of the titans and then the bonus for beating that... dont want to give away to much but overall one of my best games.
