Believe me, I've played a lot of fighting games in my time. But it's rare that I've come across a gem like this. It's not really the single player mode that makes this game so incredible, though. The multiplayer is probably one of the best multiplayer experiences ever. Everyone knows the incredible addiction that can form with multiplayer Super Smash Bros Melee. Well, take the fun factor of that and multiply it by 100 and the result is Budokai 3.
- Visuals -
What can I say? The graphics are beautiful. The game uses a kind 3D/anime hybrid system and it works wonders. If you have watched DBZ, you probably know how intense and fast the fighting can get. Using this graphics style, Budokai 3 does a phenomonally good job of translating into game. When the game gets fast and furious you'll see what I mean, but I'll about that later.
The surroundings are also very well done. It stays true to the series as the stages are easily recognizable. And personally, adding the Z-Sword at the top of the cliff in Grand Supreme Kai's World was a very VERY nice touch. Basically, the graphics are perfect. Not one thing looks out of place or too cheap or overly done. I especially love the way the developer has added the 'aura' of the characters, it looks amazing. The game is just visually perfect. You can't go wrong in this department regarding Budokai 3.
- Gameplay -
Now this where the game really excels. Flying, full-speed, combo, energy flying, teleporting and blasting mayhem from start to finish. With the game's anime style graphics, it really looks like a scene from the actual show. If you're a beginner, you might actually find it hard to keep up with the fight. Once you quickly get used to the genius lay-out of the controls and the way the game works, it should be pretty easy. The new addition of the Dragonrush system is a very good one indeed. It really adds more buzz to the fight.
Though the game is still excellent when playing the single player modes, multiplayer will make this game last forever. Get a few mates round, start a small tournament and you'll be playing for hours on end.
- Value -
The developers have really gone completely insane with the unlockables. 100s of different skills and moves to unlock and literally thousands and thousands of items and equipments. Story mode will only provide about 3-5 hours of gameplay, 2 player Vs Mode will literally last forever. You'll keep going back to Tournament Mode to win that cash, to spend in the skill shop, for the thousands of unlockables at your disposel.
Once you beat story mode, a mode called 'Dragon Arena' will be unlocked. In this mode, it uses a level-up system where you fight to level-up any character of your choice. Using the games 1000s of unlockable equipments and items, memory cards and this level up system, people can make fully customized characters and put them against each other in Vs Mode. This easily adds about 100+ hours to the gameplay.
Like I've said before, DBZ is not onl
This game is the best
