Great port, but could've used some extras

This is a great game, Final Fantasy VIII is all about micromanagement. That aside, some of the best visuals, and this genre simply didn't really exist at the time on the PC.

I won't go into the meat of FF VIII, just the PC side of things, having played both.

The graphics are pretty fair. They are a bit better than the PS1 counterpart, sharper, etc. However, there can be some slowdown and frame-rate issues. I had originally played it on a Riva TNT2 32 meg (MORE than enough power to push the game) and experienced slowdown. A better way to play the game would've been nice, like D3D, or glide support.

Overall, you need a joypad. But other than that, this is a nice port, just don't expect extra goodies.

all i know is that this game rulz on the ps1
