This is about the yakuza in LA kidnapping your fiance with comic like movie sequences, the grahix are kinda poor for a new console the gameplay is like your standard first person shooter level to level, checkpoint to checkpoint theirs no pretty much no depth besides the singleplayer, what is good about this game is the sword battle sequences, you swing you wii remote and numchuk, its a pretty cool idea is just wish their was more of it, their is only one story no alernates or different diffuclty levels but their is multiplayer.I havent really touched on the multiplayer except for 1on1 but you can play up to 4 human players with 4 wii remotes, the dissapointing thing about this is no swords its a shame cause it would be a blast if you could

After hearing that this game was supposed to be really good I bought it. I was playing Zelda and loved the sword action so I played this game and was extremely disappointed. The game is kinda slow. Not to mention with all Wii games that I've seen there is no talking just reading the freaking subtitles. I wish that hadn't hyped this game up so much.
Gah, this sucked.

Hmm.. well, where do i start. I really dislike the comic style cinematics and the graphics aren't super great. The game is fun on multiplayer but nothing else, single player is a lot like time crisis because the ai in the game just duck and then stand up to fire at you. It gets extremely boring after just a short period of time and i would not recommend getting this game. If you want to try it out, rent it or something. I personally don't think it's even worth that but that's just my opinion.

Singleplayer: Downright sucks. All you do is shoot, hide behind a box for about 7 seconds to get full health, then shoot again. COM players suck. All they do is crouch, hide, and shoot. Swordplay is OK.
And contradicting to what all other people say, the controls do NOT suck. I got used to them in about 30 minutes of play, and it was fine from there. If people can't get used to these controls, then stay away from FPS.
Multiplayer: Awesome. I love blasting the crap out of all my friends. 4 player works very well. To bad there was no swordplay.
Overall, I don't suggest buying this. Multiplayer is the only thing in this that is worth it.

Red Steel review sites have been overly critical in reviewing the controls for the game. The controls, while a little glitchy every now and then aren't that bad at all. For the nature of the game, the large bounding box that the game uses works and works quite well.
If you're cautious about this game, rent it first and see how you like the controls or, get a copy of it from somebody here

Red steel has a great single player but it doesn't last that long. The controls are perfect though. This is one of the best 3rd party games at the moment. Multiplayer could use more maps but it's still fun.

Yeild the power of the wiimote!
Swing your wiimote like a sword in this fps my ubisoft, The best title out of ubisofts wii launch lineup you fight your way thru the yakuza underground in a battle for your kidnapped fiance! Great for a launch title, hard to put down!
Kind of Lame
This game was a big disappointment to me. It looked so much coller on the box than it was in actual gameplay. It's not really a very interesting game; it just kind of drags on. I got it mainly because I love games in which you get to use a sword, but even that wasn't very much fun with this game. It was not really worth the money I paid for it.
Fun Wii shooter.

This is a fun game. No, it's not as good as it should've been, but still pretty good none the less. *Sigh, if only it were online.*
Graphics: 8.5/10 Very nice IMHO, but some spots show need for improvement.
Sound: 8.5/10 Sound coming from the Wiimote is very cool.
Storyline: 6.75/10 Yeah, the story could be told in a very short time, but still not "THAT" bad of a story.
Gameplay: 9.5/10 Very nice. Easily the best part of the game, sword fights are fun and the Wiimote is great for shooters.
Replayability: 6.5/10, sadly no online and nothing really to do after you beat the game.
Overal: 8/10 or 4/5 or 80%.
Pros:
Fun game
Great controlls!
Cool comic-like cutscenes.
Cons:
Too short.
No online.
Great Idea, Bad Presentation.

This was the first game that I played for the Nintendo Wii. Luckily, I choose to rent it instead of buying it. When I first saw the commercial for the game, I, like alot of people thought 'Wow, this could be a great game'. Once I played it though, I quickly learned I was wrong. There were two things about this game I had a problem with. The first itme is that the main menu screen is horrible (in order to select an option on the main menu screen, you had to click the option you wanted and drag it to a certain place). The other problem I had with this game is that the controls are to sensative. After playing this game for about an hour, I just gave up and return the item (luckily it was a free rental). In conclusion this game looked good on paper, but didn't come out right. Hopefully Ubisoft will drastically improve the gameplay should they decide to do a sequel.

This game and Zelda were the first two games I bought when I got my WII. I thought I would love this game, but after playing it for 5 minutes I then knew it was one of the worst games I ever played. It had a terrible story line, gameplay was horrible, and the glitches in this game were unbelievable. The only thing I must say it had going for it was the idea for the game.

I am not one of those guys that ghets a game and beats it in one day, but still, this game takes way too long. The plotline has so many twists and turns that you forget what you are trying to do and just end up shooting anything that moves. However, everyone keeps on complaining about how the controls suck. But really they are just fine. It's a good game and I'm glad that I bought it.

This is the original FPS for the Wii. It has a well sized story packed with sword fights and shoot-outs.
The multi-player is good, but could be better. it features simultaneous 4 player action and power ups. Unfortunately, their is no 2 player sword battle option. Thishe only major flaw is the extremely sensitive control scheme. it takes some getting use to but after a while it's fun to pick-up and play.
FPS control for other games has been upgraded and should only get better. With the new Wii Zapper on the way, we can only expect a sequel.... or an update. All in all i would recommend to get it after you had the wii for at least 3 weeks.

Well It is what it is, a shooter and it does follow the patterns of many other games. The intreasting part was the sword fights and the story line. I hated the comic book style cut scenes. If this is next gen surly they can make it better. I thought this was going to change the way shooters are looked at. It did but this title should not have been it. It was fun and the wiimote made everything better but I'll play Metroid from now on.

Apparantly the multiplayer was ok, but how would i know? i was too busy packaging up this boring game to send off to someone else!! One good thing though, the controls worked fairly well, despite wat those wii-tards say. The must be playing with the sensor bar backwards or sometin.

You know, every time we've seen Red Steel since its unveiling at E3 earlier this year, we've thought it was a bit rubbish - or if not rubbish, derivative, bland and tedious. That said, when the - how to say - less than stellar reviews started pouring through the cracks in the internet, we weren't really all that surprised - or bothered, to be frank. And when the Great IGN Overseer parted the clouds, stuck his great big finger our way and bellowed the words "Red Steel review" in booming baritone, we thought we could probably get away with churning out a couple of hundred words, slapping a '6' on the end then going home early to eat crisps and watch porn.
Here's the thing though - Red Steel's actually much, much better than either we thought or you might have been let to believe. Let's get those negatives out the way first then, because it's not like you probably haven't read enough of them by now. Firstly, it's a mess from a visual perspective - for every sumptuous-looking level (of which the game has more than its fair share), there's an astonishing affront to your eyeballs. For every lusciously-detailed exterior, rich with foliage and extraneous environmental detail, there's an N64-era corridor, devoid of anything but a smeared texture, ugly geometry and - if you're very lucky - a badly rendered box in the corner.
Rubbish thing number two: enemies. It's hard to tell quite what we hate most about them, but we'd probably choose their endlessly repeated battle cries ("You bastard!") over their occasionally broken AI, causing them to stop dead in their tracks and look a bit sheepish while you run at them, stick a gun up their nose and blow their heads off. The fact that they, like much of the game incidentally, fall merrily under the umbrella of 'ill-judged cliché and embarrassing stereotype' probably doesn't help much either - seriously, we occasionally had to stop and wonder whether the game designers actually had any experience of Japan beyond a Magic Eye photo of a pagoda they saw once.
You'll also probably hate the controls to begin with too. Flying in the face of popular internet opinion, we actually don't have a problem with Red Steel's set-up - although we'd definitely question Ubisoft's overly enthusiastic use of gesture-based environmental interaction in some instances. Really, twitching the nunchuck like we're having a seizure every time we want to open a door or pick up a gun just seems a little, well, excessive to us - what's wrong with the damn buttons?! It might be stating the obvious, but using the Wiimote for the first time has just as much of a learning curve as anything else you might be unfamiliar with - and we're quite happy to court controversy by suggesting that much of Red Steel's bad press has probably been borne out of impatient frustration as much as anything else.
Realistically, assuming you're not completely devoid of physical coordination, you can expect to spend anything up to a few hours getting to

I think this is the best shooten game in a long time I like most shooten games but this is the best that i have played. I give this game (Five Stars) becouse the shooten is so accared. And if you have the (Gun) it just make the shooten even better! And plus you can kill up to 6 or 7 people at a time. If you like to shoot this is the game for you for the people who cant shoot there is still the sword fighten. The sword fighten is super cool and the movement is even better even if you can't use a sword in real life it will still be fun. And the 4 player mode is even better then the 1 player mode. Me and my friends love to play all the time I became the master.(And I KILL THEM ALL !!!)
Either you really love it or really hate it!
People need to realize that a launch title of a new system isn’t going to be perfect. Especially for a system dedicated to a new design in controls. This is basically the first game for the Wii to put the controls to the test.
This game can be a lot of fun if you try and get the most out of it.
Graphics: 7/10. It’s true that the graphics are not as good as the PS3 or 360 but it’s definitely not bad. Lighting affects are actually almost just as good as PS3 or 360. The physics are great. I prefer the physics over graphics any day and this game achieves good rag doll physics. I would give this an 8/10 if bodies didn’t disappear but the graphics/physics will stay at a 7/10.
Story: 6.8/10. People think the story is too cliché and boring, and they don’t like the way it is told through the comic affect. It’s true that there could be more spice to the story but this story actually isn’t all that bad. It gets a little better as you go. There isn’t really anything to bitch about it though.
Controls: 8.5/10: The only glitch there is with the controls is that sometimes the corsair will go to the middle of the screen for a split second and for me this was not in a fire fight. It is a little hard to turn around quickly. The controls are great and easy to learn. I don’t know why some people struggle with these controls, but this is what gives the game a lot of fun.
Game play: 9.5/10. This is the best part of the game. Running around gunning down and blowing up your enemies quickly never gets boring, especially with fun controls. The extra parts of the game play are fun too, like throwing grenades, sniping, and the sword fights. To be honest, this is the first game that I know that actually achieves grenade rolling (instead of tossing) correctly. Half life 2 did it but not as good as this.
Music/Sound: 9/10. The sound of the guns and reloading is awesome. It even comes out of the Wii mote like your actually holding the gun. The music is really great in the fact that it gets tense and fun when your in a gun fight and slow and rigid when your not. If you like Japanese pop or rock then this is for you.
Art/Environment: 8/10. This is typical for a shooter game. You got your warehouses and harbors and shops or bars to gun through. Ubisoft did a pretty good job in portraying Japanese style art to this game and environments even if the environments are techno Japanese looking.
Multiplayer: N/A. I never got to the multiplayer but many people like it. From what ive seen, it’s probably just average.
Replayability: 7/10. You will not come back for this game because of the story or graphics. You will come back for it because of trying to get a better respect score in a mission or just having that fun time again and gunning down enemies in which is one of the funest I have done in a shooter.
Overall: 8/10.
Good for Round 1
