I love Paper Mario 2!!!

Even though it's "2," you don't have to have player paper mario (for the N64). The writing is spot-on and funny, the gameplay is superb, and the graphics are perfect for the game.

Presentation: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 10/10 (Quirky battles are SUPER!)
Sound: 9/10
Lasting Value: 8.5/10

Overall: 10/10

A must for all RPG and Mario fans!

I love Mario, and I love RPGs, so this is like the best of both worlds. It's fun for all ages, and easy to pick up. The story isn't on a grand scale a la Final Fantasy, but you will be sure to have a blast with this one. You can roll Mario up, make him paper thin to fall through cracks, turn him into paper airplanes and boats, etc. This causes you to look at your environment veerrry carefully to see if you can find the secrets! You'll love it!

As Much fun as the First

The original paper mario was awesome. I couldn't stop playing it, trying out different moves every time. The gamecube just kicks it up a notch. With the ability to transfrom your paper structure and new partners with cooler powers and abilitys, this game has a strong reply value. A must have for any mario fan or paper mario fan.

Not like regular Mario

Too much talking and a little bit complicated for little kids. Not quite the same as usual Mario games. You have to follow the storyline. It seems like you are reading more than you are playing.

Fun game if you have the time

Like mentioned below... There is A LOT of reading. Half the time I am simply skipping through the dialog, which can be bad, because you might miss something.

As far as the gameplay goes, it's basically a typical RPG game in the Mario universe. The graphics are nice, and the style is fun to look at.

It's definitely not like normal Mario games, but it's still fun in it's own way. One of the few must-have games for the Gamecube.

This game has is all. I am only half way through and it smashes the first paper Mario on 64. The added powers and party members make this an all-time favorite for me. New villians are a nice added feature Bowser is classic, but it is nice for a change of pace to fight the X-nauts. Like I said I am only half way through and I have about 18 hours in that is doing all the side quests I can find. I feel if you are going to beat a game you have to do all the side quests. You can play as Princess again and can even play as Bowser which is different. Game play is the same from the first but the graphics and color as awesome. I play on my HD and it is not grainy in the least. The color just pops on the screen. I will add more as I progress thru the game.

This is by far the best game I have ever played. I worship the ground on which it lays upon!
It has everything. An amazing story line, hilarious characters, fighting, drama, suspence!
And though everyone could live without seeing Flurry bounce up and down, it's the best game ever!

Better than Super Paper Mario

Reviewed by kngzmexican on October 26, 2007  |  report this review

Nintendo's unassuming little mustachioed mascot stars in one of his greatest adventures yet in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which follows in the footsteps of last year's Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga for the Game Boy Advance, as well as the original Paper Mario title for the Nintendo 64. This new role-playing game from Nintendo and developer Intelligent Systems is truly inspired. It's practically overflowing with wonderful, funny characters, memorable subplots, inventive gameplay, and beautiful visuals, and it's lengthy and quite challenging to boot.

The adventure begins conventionally enough: Princess Peach has gone missing again, and it's up to Mario to find her. She was last seen in Rogueport, a seedy and mysterious coastal town far from the familiar reaches of the Mushroom Kingdom, and this place serves as the game's central location. Mario will gradually uncover Rogueport's secrets as he attempts to decipher a treasure map that Princess Peach left in his care. Soon enough, the quest develops a clear episodic structure involving the search for seven crystal stars, each one a powerful artifact. The stars are all tucked away in different parts of the world. So, in turn, the process of finding each one is like a unique and self-contained storyline in which Mario will meet some colorful new friends and foes and solve various puzzles using his ever-growing number of special abilities. That means Paper Mario is structured much like classic Mario games, in which each main level has a distinctively different tone and style to it.

While the overarching storyline is typical of a Mario game, the smaller subplots are what give Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door so much of its own charm and personality. It would be spoiling some of the fun to even briefly describe these various episodes, since each one provides a thrill of discovery, and the stark contrast from one episode to the next makes for a great experience. On the whole, the world of the game is brilliantly imagined and fully realized: It's filled with just about all the weird characters you may have seen in past Mario games, and yet here they're mostly just going about their day-to-day business, trying to make ends meet. The effect is reminiscent of Pixar's computer-animated movies (such as A Bug's Life or Finding Nemo), whose fantastic storybook worlds are believable partly because, in a lot of ways, they're mundane--not so different from real life. That's exactly the effect that Paper Mario goes for, and it's hugely successful at achieving it.

The game has a terrific sense of humor, thanks partly to a first-rate English translation. Much of the absurd humor comes from how Mario is one of the only human characters in the game, and yet his constantly bright-eyed, cheerful, but nearly silent demeanor makes him the most enigmatic character of them all. There's also a great deal of comedy to be found in between the game's chapters, as Bowser, Mario's nemesis, haplessly f

There really needs to be more games like this one...

This game is awesome. It's not too hard but requires some skill. The story line is interesting and easy to get into. There are a few side-missions in the game that are fun to play but are not required to complete the main goal.

At first, it's strange walking around as a flat mario. But once you get further into the game you earn new moves - Turn into a paper airplane, roll up into a log, turn into a paper boat. These are critical to learn and master.

The graphics in this game are good. And the ideas put into it are great. For example, you have to move from different towns, and sometimes you have to take a train or a hot-air-balloon ride. Well, instead of just "warping" to the new location, theres game play while riding the train.

The story line is a lot of fun and thought provoking. It will suck you in pretty quickly which makes it hard to put the controller down when its dinner time or time for work. The different missions throughout the game are fairly simple, but sometimes they require a few tries before you can complete them. Great to keep the frustration down, but not boring.

There really needs to be more games like this one.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, one of the best games I've ever played.

The wait for the next terrific Paper Mario game has finally ended. This new ,advanced version of the original Paper Mario game is great in both gameplay and storyline. Some parts of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door will leave you on the floor laughing, while some parts of the game will leave you astonished and in utter dismay at the deception and cunning of the enemies and former friends of this game's charactors. With your role as the savior of Princess Peach once again showing it's face, You must fing all seven Crystal Stars in order to save her and hold off the evil legion of X-NAUTS that threaten to away with the princess. While playing the game, you will change from charactor to charactor in order to understand not only whats happening with Mario and his new-found crew, but to help you comprehend whats going on with all the other people of the world also. This game is long and strenuous, but it has an amazing story to follow and many activities to do besides playing the story. I give Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the Nintendo Gamecube a for out of five stars. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
