Halo Easter Eggs
Hint by speedracer on February 24, 2007 | report this hint
"Hidden Music" easter egg:
Near the end of the 5th level (Assault on the Control Room), snag a Banshee in the open area and head up to the Control Center. There are three ledges that bracket the central pillar in front of the door; you want the middle one. You can land your Banshee parallel to the walkway, facing the left (with respect to the door), and hop out the back. Be careful - if you're not perfectly straight, you'll hop out to your death. Walk to the right end of the ledge... and stand still. You should hear this soft, sorrowful music playing.
Just so you know, the name of this masterpiece is called The Siege of Madrigal, and it can be found in Bungie's earlier game, Myth. It was written by Marty O'Donnell from Total Audio.

Hidden Area:
In the chapter where you must find Capt. Keyes in the swamp, there is a secret area you can access right from the beginning.
When Foe Hammer says ''The Last transmission from the captain's dropship was from this area. That was over twelve hours ago'', immediately start pressing your grenade throw button. whatever you do, DON'T MOVE! After a few seconds, the dropship will take back off, and you'll still be in it! It flys for about 20 seconds then crashes. Press ''X'' to exit the dropship.
Now walk directly away from the ship until you reach a clearing. Head towards the center and out of the fog you'll see a lone Marine standing there! He won't move or say anything, unless you shoot him in the foot w/ your pistol.

This is especially good for the Heroic and Legendary modes!!! as they can be quite difficult!!!

use the pistol's scope and "snipe" snipers. It works great for me.
Wrong Radar Reading
Hint by Krzys on June 16, 2007 | report this hint
In the level " 343 Guilty Spark", when you are walking on the fallen tree to get to the building (you will see and hear gunfire; must be a war between the Flood and Covenant), you should be walking towards a covenant gun turret with a grunt shooting from it that will explode as you get closer. But anyway, while you are walking on the fallen tree, look at your radar. It will show that you have some allies (Marines) there shooting at your enemies. But as get closer, all the yellow dots on the radar will disappear and there will be no Marines there.
Freaky video in "343 Guilty Spark"
Hint by Krzys on June 16, 2007 | report this hint
After you enter the building, you have to find the room where you have to go( you will pass a room with a scared Marine; he will say some stuff that might not make sense to you but after you watch the video, it will; he will also shoot at you because he doesn't recognize you because he thinks you are an enemy). When you get to a room that you had to pass to get to the scared Marine (with all the needler ammo and guns) there will be a switch to activate an energy bridge. Walk across and enter the room. You will hear creepy music playing. Turn left and go into the little tunnel. You will see a dead Marine with health packs and ammo( pick up anything you need because you WILL NEED IT BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!).Go into the room at the bottom ( turn left at the bottom to find a door). A sequence will start playing. MC will look around to see if anyone has followed him there. He will press some buttons and the door will open. As soon as the door opens, a dead Marine will fall into MC's arms. MC enters the room and finds the Marine's helmet (Wallace Jenkins is the guy's name). MC finds a chip in the helmet and places it in the back of his helmet and another sequence will play. Now you know where the Flood came from. Now you know why you needed health packs and full ammo. Now you know why there is a lot of human blood and ammo and health packs on the floor. Now you know waht killed the Marines. AND now you know why the scared Marine is scared. For the rest of the game, not only will you fight the covenant, but the FLOOD(Mutated zombie forms from Marines and Elites), AS WELL!!!!! As you progress through the level, later on you will find a LIVE MARINE WITH A M90 SHOTGUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! (finally, some help!; but not for long unless you help himbattle the flood). It is easier to battle the flood in cooperative mode.

Halo Help.
Hint by Gadgetboy28 on August 07, 2007 | report this hint
When you are trying to defeat a Hunter, don't waste your time and ammo shooter right at the front of it. If you sneak around to the back of the Hunter, you will see an orange area on it's back. That is it's 'weak spot'. Shoot that spot once with a pistol or a shotgun and the Hunter is taken care of. Also, when you can access a turret, some kind of stactionary gun or a tank/wrath, use it even if the gun you have is better because you won't wase any of your ammo, and you can shoot as much as you want.
Secondary wepon modes
Hint by xbox_pimp on August 14, 2007 | report this hint
I suggest using the secondary weapon modes. For instance, the pistol has a GREAT scope on it. If you use it and target your enemies head.. 2 or 3 shots to the head--kills them almost every time! Also, using any weapon using the aiming feature REALLY helps when killing someone. And get used to two handed operation (using both joysticks at the same time)... as it's the only way to keep ahead of your enemies. Another slick killing trick is whack your opponent in the back of their skull. If executed correctly... you can drop someone with one hit.
get out of sidewinder
Hint by wantaskillet on August 17, 2007 | report this hint
While you are playing 2-4 player mode in Sidewinder, bring a ghost up to the mountain across from a large wall. When you have gotten there, bring a scorpian up there too. Drive the scorpian into the wall then get out. Fly the ghost off the scorpian and you will get on top of the map. It will be very white, but you can still run around on top of it. You can see your enemies down below, but they cannot see you. The only bad thing, is that you cannot shoot them. When you see them, jump off from where you are, and attack. Or walk very close to the edge. And bring a sniper rifle!
warthog driver to gun switch
Hint by wantaskillet on August 17, 2007 | report this hint
This trick works best in multi-player mode. Drive the warthog in a straight line. When you see an enemy, jump out of the Warthog. Tap X repeatedly and sidestep to the right. If you are quick enough, you will exit the Warthog and jump on the LAAG gun without stopping, while the Warthog slows down. This also works well on ice, because you keep sliding.
slow down the enemy
Hint by wantaskillet on August 17, 2007 | report this hint
When you run into the race known as the Flood, turn your flashlight on and point it at them. The large guy will stop running and jumping so they are easier to shoot. If you raise your gun to reload or turn away from them or take the light off of them, they will resume running and will try to kill you again. Although they stand still when you point the flashlight at them, they may still shoot if they have a gun, so kill them quickly.

Lost?
Hint by healing on August 24, 2007 | report this hint
Do you get lost alot in Halo? Some of the levels in this game consist of many twists and turns through identical corridors, they are frustrating and make but make it all the more rewarding when you finish them. Here is a hint to help keep you from getting lost.
It's pretty much common sense stuff but it works.
If you are in an area where you notice the places are similar, pay attention to the little things that are different, like a patch of blood on the floor or a light fixture.
And remember, if you are alone, you are not in the right place, exept for a couple of times where you are meant to be for suspence, you should be within shooting distance of a Covenant. Pay attention to your radar and you'll find your way.
But when you use this method make sure you clean out all the hostiles in the room before continuing, so if you do get lost you wont be led back to the same room by one grunt that you left behind.
Also keep the volume up, the little messages you get from Cortana sometimes give you alot of info!
tips
Hint by navyblue42 on August 24, 2007 | report this hint
a few tips about defeating enemies in single player mode are: magnums are very effective against hunters, shotguns are very effective against flood, plasma weapons are good against sentinels, needlers are good against elites, weapons with scopes are good against jackals, and anything is good against grunts. also, in the first level, after getting your pistol, if you go back and kill one of the crew members in the main section, you will get trapped in there with immortal marines
And the Underdog...
Hint by C_for_Vendetta on September 28, 2007 | report this hint
As much as the Plasma Rifle can be a bitch to fire, one will take down an elites shield in about five shots on easy, and a little less than overheating on legendary.
Also, if your having trouble with the flood levels, just run.\
And if an Elite roars...smack him hard, quick.
Contrary to popular belief, the Plasma Pistol IS a legitimate weapon in the first Halo.

Skull in halo mean nothing. They are very hard to find and they aren't not worth finding. They do absolutely nothing. I wouldn't reccomend even looking for these skulls.
Just play the game. The game is great. The only thing bad about the game is the multiplayer. The mulitplayer is only average. you can get a better multiplayer experience somewhere else.
battle mode
Hint by jeremygalt on November 15, 2007 | report this hint
im jeremy and i wanna inform you on something on halo
of course this is only my opinion
but
when playing a battle mode on halo 2
or 1 always carry a shotgun and pistol
and have full grenades. Then wait in the shadows for someone to come along and wham come out and blow them up. I swear it works every time. I did it wen i was playin with my dad and my eighteen year old brother and man i dominated, no kidding, seriously i was like invincible. well anyways give me some feedback and tell me how it worked out for you all . Thnx. See ya later... Jeremy
Alternate ending sequence
Hint by okidoki on December 11, 2007 | report this hint
Beat The Maw on legendary difficulty to see a new ending movie. The new movie will feature the Sarge and an Elite fighting over an Assault Rifle. Then, both of them will look towards the Pillar Of Autumn as it starts to blow up. The Sarge will then say to the Elite: "this is it baby, hold me". Then they will hug and the game will get back to it's original ending movie with the Chief flying off in the Longsword.
Good tactic for legendary
Hint by okidoki on December 11, 2007 | report this hint
Here's a good way of killing elites or hunters in legendary. get a needler and some ammo and just unload it on an elite and watch the show --NOTE-- You have to get in close enough for the needles to find their mark, and the delay until they explode leaves you wide open for their plasma rifle, so bring a backup weapon.
For the hunters, unload an entire clip at their backs so the shot doesn't reflect off their shield and start shooting at them with another weapon while waiting for the needles to explode (or just sneak up on one and smack him in the back, and if you cant to that...a well placed plasma grenade to the head should weaken it, but it will most likely just piss it off.)
easier way to clear a room in halo
Hint by skater12 on February 06, 2008 | report this hint
If your heading into a crowded room of covanent and dont have a missle laucher dont panic just press the melee(button B) and the grenade (left trigger, default setup,)buttons
your grenade should go farther and be more effective also a good way kill elites because the genade goes where you aim it!!
