Best one since Tony Hawk's Underground

This is a very fun game, good graphics, and more skating. It is let down by the boring create a skater, it has less choices to chose from I just don't like it. The missions can get frustrating and repetitive though. On the other hand it has great graphics, and the tricks look real. It also has a new addition called nail the trick where you can control the feet to do a trick. Some of the music is good but other music is just crap in my opinion, but that just depends on your taste of music.
It could use a little work on some things but the game is definately fun and is worth the time and money.
It's been a long time since THPS2.

Finally the game is back! The last few titles were less than stellar. THPS8 features a brand new engine, and you can tell by the awesome graphics and the goofy bails that occur. Everything is pretty good, it's not hard to complete challenges but it's difficult to get a Pro score in some and downright insane to try and get a Sick score. Nail the trick is really cool, but useless. Another complaint about the game would be that it's way too easy to get your special meter going and as long as you don't fall it will never go down if you bust a flip trip every now and then.

Realistic or not, Tony Hawk's Project 8 still plays largely like the same arcade combo-worship that’s been rocking the public for seven years. It's ridiculous scores and ridiculous goals wrapped in a generic representation of skate ethos, squealing with mall-punk clichés like "big air" and "bust out" that should force any hardcore skaters to cringe at the shameless reaming of their culture.
Yet undeniably, the game is absurd fun. The new engine, plus Nail the Trick, a slow motion tool that gives you precise control over footwork, plus a few more ditties, dropped into a truthfully free-roaming skate heaven cooks an undeniably addictive next-gen video drug.

I've been playing Tony Hawk all the way since the first one. I love the large score and the impossible tricks that you can pull off. It's to easy though, I made it up to the top 4 in two days. That's just saying that the creators need to make it a bit harder. The graphics are awesome and I don't see myself ever trading this game in. It stays in my collection and will remain there forever. As far as achievements go, there are some hard ones the are pretty difficult to get. Such as the 1,000,000 point combo..... Yeah I'm sure people that have no life and like to glitch wont have a problem getting that one.

I have played Tony Hawk games alot and this is the best on yet.I like have always liked playing Tony Hawk and this one I think I have liked playing the most. The graphics are great and I have no problem with that and all the new things added to it is great. The slow mo thing is awesome and it helps with making combos and things like that.It is cool how everything works and you can do new moves and you have all kinds of new missions and different things to do and meet more people and all kinds of new things. This is simply the best Tony Hawk game out of all Tony Hawk Games ever made. This game is fun and I got to do more than I thought I'd be able to do and I just wanted to tell everybody that this is the greatest Tony Hawk Ever. Note:I especially type like this for points.

This is a really great the game play by itself can sell the game it is just so fun skating around the large town (with little to none load times) racking up a huge combo. I really enjoyed a lot what this game had to offer. A problem though for me is that they didn't focus to much on the multiplayer sure they give you a few fun modes but after a while it just gets repetitive. Overall i had a lot of fun playing this game and for the countless amount of hours it takes to beat it is totally worth the money.

*Sigh* another Tony Hawk that doesn’t meet the total awesomeness of Underground. Don’t get me wrong this is still a great game, but it is missing that feeling you get when you Mctwist over the helicopter for the first time in T.H.U.G., the “Unlimited skating” slogan in America Wasteland which wasn’t very conveyed is well done here; the loading is no longer “cleverly” disguised through long stupid tunnels. The skating feels a lot smoother than the other seven titles and the physics are not nearly as exaggerated as they are in the other Tony Hawk games, even though the “Nail the Trick” is a little farfetched but it still is cool. If you are a big fan of the Tony Hawk games you will definitely enjoy this one, but the odds are it won’t be your favorite. If you’re new to the series save the extra $40 bucks and get Tony Hawk’s Underground.
This game is definitely a big improvement over American Wasteland, but I would rent it, unless you are huge fan of the Tony Hawk games.
Better then the last few for sure

Yes this is the 8th entry in the Tony Hawk series. Does it actually do anything new? Yes it does.
New Features: The nail the trick mode is simply the best addition and Im suprised no one has thought of this before now. Also new this version is the bails, which are used for some challenges (bail and break this many bones or bail and rack up this much of a hospital bill). This feels like a copy of Amped 3, but works semi well and adds some new variety to the series. Also new is the classic mode integrated to the story, which is my favorite new feature.
Graphics: The graphics are amazing, specially when you compare it to Tony Hawk American Wasteland. The graphics are smooth and I have not seen any slow down that some reviews have mentionned.
Sounds: The sound is good and the track list is varied and good. Out of 50 some odd tracks I think I knew about 4 bands. In a way I wish they would have thrown in a few more well known bands, but the unknowns (to me anyway) are decent and a few tracks actually made me want to look up the artist.
Character creation: Unlike other reviews (ign for example) I disagree that there are not enough options. You pick from 5 or 6 basic models and each then has options to modify them. There are a few things I would have added, like being able to change my guys hair color for the hair I chose instead of it only adding highlights to the black do or being able to change the shirt under the leather vest I wanted to wear. But over all I think the creation should make most fans happy.
The cons: A lot of reviews have mentionned that create a trick was removed (IMO replaced with the much better nail the trick), create a park mode was also removed...but I never used it. The graffiti portions found in American Wasteland were also removed...but I found that to be boring and a waste of time anyways. My main negative comment to make about this game is that it has some collision detection problems (I've gotten stuck near a wall and had to switch to walking to get away) and the VERY unrealistic bails. It annoys me when I'm trying to get a line or beat a challenge and bail and litterally fly all the way accross the section I'm in...It's a bail, not a superman impression... I really hope they patch the bails to make them more realistic, because currently it's too awkward half the time to be fun, it's unrealistic..it's not even remotly funny at the minute.
Over all: The game is loads of fun (hence the 5 stars).
