Phantasy Star Universe (PSU) is ALL about the online multiplayer… period. In fact, they could have removed the 40 hour solo game and I don’t think many people would notice. For anyone who played the original back on the Sega Dreamcast, this version follows the tried and true elements from the original version but it’s been expanded enough to truly earn the name “universe”. At first, the controls/camera may seem a little awkward and the world may seem a little small and bland, especially compared to a true MMORPG but trust me, once you sink your teeth into this game you won’t want to let go!!
It doesn’t take long to realize that the depth of gameplay and weapon/armor creation goes WAY deeper than any previous Phantasy Star game. There are literally hundreds of items and weapons and the online community is GREAT! It’s a completely different XBL crowd from the trash-talking people you find in most FPS games.
PSU also sports some of the most massive and scariest boss battles ever witnessed in a game, and the VC (voice chat) plays out perfectly when you’re in a team! I can’t remember how you could possible use a keyboard and battle at the same time like you do on the PS2 and PC versions. That being said, you can ALSO use a keyboard if you prefer, but once you try the VC, you won’t want to.
Another thing, the missions in this game only take about 20-60 minutes each to complete so it’s perfect for those that want an MMO-esk type experience without having to devote hours of your life each day. I’m married with a baby so PSU fits into myself like glove!
With more play fields, weapons, items, missions and classes all being patched-in in the next few months for the online multiplayer, PSU also promises to continue expanded so the game won’t get old.
And for $10 bucks a month… it’s worth every single cent!
Benifits of Gameplay

Well... first of all, you must start with regular story mode to get the game going, which is my favorite part of the game. After a chapter or two of gameplay, you unlock another game mode called Extra mode. in the regular mode, you play as ethan waber, a teen on his way to becoming a guardian and beyond, but on extra mode, you can create a player, start out as a guardian, and go on as many missions as you like
Also, if you enjoyed extra mode, i extremely recomend xbox live. for 10$ you have to purchase a guardians licence. (dont worry you have three months of free play before u are required to pay)
The game is a great classic, but still has a few faults. Example: Save points; save points on phantasy star are widely spaced apart, so if youre on of those people who play for 30 minute increments, you might be in a prediciment every now and then.
Weapon and armour selection is great, and has expanded since its original version on the dreamcast.
Phantasy star universe has a great single player mode, but if you want some real fun, get on xbox live and play till your fingers bleed.

I think this game is okay. In the beginning it starts out like most rpg games. It gives you a story line and then introduces the characters. The beginning is a little slow but the rest is pertty action packed. I like how you can customize your character. If you like rpg games I think this game would be right up your alley.
