air pressure
Hint by chevyman on June 21, 2007 | report this hint
the lower the air pressure the better the traction off the line the higher the prussure the more responsive the tire is i go with lower air pressure so my cars have a better chance at hooking up and that is a problem when you have over a 1000 horses at the rear wheels of a 69 charger and a 2006 charger and soon 3 vettes
Ideal tire pressure.

I've noticed, ore or less, a general formula for tire pressure on most cars.
Generally, mid or rear engine AWD cars are better suited with 29 PSI in the front tires and 26 PSI in the rear tires.
In front engine RWD cars you'd be better off putting the tire pressure in the front tires at 29 PSI to better support the engine, so the car won't otherwise nag on you while it'll be 26 PSI on the rear.
FWD cars should be lower in front for better traction just like the others. Put the front tires on FWD drive cars at 26 PSI and mix up the PSI on the back at 29-27 PSI.
Tuning your car can be complex, but the tire pressure is some of the most influential tunes and when you remember these tips you can quickly tune the tire pressure of a car, so it will at least drive considerably better, handling wise.
