This is a burn review, which means im going to tear apart this game.
First off this game looks like shit. The environment is disgusting and character models are choppy. The graphics are definately a HUGE downfall. They look identical to the ps2 version, which is pathetic. I thought this was next gen.

The gameplay sucks. You watch your character hit the enemy, which is exciting as all get out, especially when thats all you can do for hours on end. You scower the lands in search of a enemy and when you find one some level 300 magic worlock barbarian kills him in one hit, and once someone else attacks the animal you cant fight it. Since there are so many japs hooked on the game youll find the servers EXTREMELY overcrowded, which is extremely surprising based on the fact that they failed in every attempt to revive the ancient MMO.

The sound is gay. Little asian techno music that sounds like a wannabe orchestra, which is horrific. The animals moan like dying wilderbeasts for hours on end when you fight them and your character grunts every time he attacks which gets REAL old.
Game sucks, simple as that, the funny part is, they expect you to pay to play this peice of shit after you pay the outragous 60 bucks. Some people get hooked on the game, because they dont realize theres better games out there.

People will tell you that this game sucks only because they are immature console kids. This game has bad graphics because this game ALSO plays on the PS2 on the same servers. I will admit the sounds suck, but when you put on your headphones nothing really matters. I have played this game non-stop for a very long time. There is SO much to do, you only have to take the time to get there. This is not an easy game that you can just pick up, this game takes alot of time to understand. people hate this game because they are used to the kiddy style gameplay of WoW. Were everything is so straight-forward you could poke it with a stick. Where as FFXI first you have to find the stick to poke it. Give this game some chance and try it..it may be better on CP but it's still an amazing and addictive game...especially when you're not impatient and take time to make some friends.

When I picked up this game, I was actually unaware about the paid subscription one must complete before one can actually play the game. Big downer for me. I'm a HUGE Final Fantasy fan, so of course I had to buy it, but then it lets me down by making me pay more money for online services. All I should have to really pay for is my Xbox Live; and that's all I'm going to pay for. The game itself is great, there is so much to do and so many possibilities, so it's an excellent game for any hardcore MMORPGgoers. But not really my taste. Truth is, this game appeals to a smaller audience than I first thought. But if you've got the time and money, go for it!
