Final Fantasy wannabe

Why would anybody want to play this, its horrible, the story is one of the wrost I have ever seen or heard of, the charachters are unimaginative and never get any deeper than the beggining of the plot. the fighting system of ALWAYS using those blue retarded monsters is as crappy as can get and the art direction is teh G^!.

Good, But Not Perfect

I played it at a friend's house and I must say this; RPG's beware! Blue Dragon is a great RPG game, but it really lacks in a few departments, if you know what I mean. I have to agree somewhat with dirtyg, Final Fantasy this ain't.

Good Japanese RPG!

(another review from my homepage blog) Blue Dragon is classic Japanese RPG in the same fashion as Final Fantasy & others of that nature. Its a huge story and game spanning 3 DVD’s and I’m over 40 hours into it and only at the beginning of the third and final disc. The story is great (so far) and the characters are classic Japanese RPG characters. You have the one annoying one, the over zealous one, the brooding emo one, and the girl with a troubled past. The thing that I love about this that sets it apart from the others is that you dont have random, surprised encounters. You instead, see the enemies on the battle field and choose to attack or avoid. This is SUCH a welcomed addition since the old FF days in which you would walk 10 feet only to have it auto jump into battle. It would take 5-8 battles to make it across the screen sometimes, now I can walk a full screen without any encounter if I want. This game is so worth the money spent. Also, as a final note, I am FIRMLY against those big ole game guide books being as how they tend to have most info you can find in game with a little patience. However, in this game’s case, I have actually went out to get one due to numerous others whom have played this rave about it. They were dead on, the guide give so much background and help for the classes, skills, spells, monster weakness and such that you couldn’t possibly know! Plus finding it used for $10 was a blessing, it’s become invaluable!
