Finally, a game with a story that adults can appreciate...

As the gaming industry grows and becomes as competively profitale as major motion pictures, I hope that the heads of the videogame market learn from the mistakes made by their counterparts. Namely, that we the consumers value fun and (intelligent) entertainment above the need for glitzy special effects/graphics and other technological advances.
Indigo prophecy is an excellent example of how you can take simple gaming mechanics, mix them up with a good storyline and engaging characters, and produce a result that while not groundbreaking, provides a highly enjoyable and thrilling experience.
What I appreciate most about this game is how well it establishes a chilling atmosphere (starting with the opening scene) and maintains it throughout most of the game. The narrative is really well done and you will soon find yourself engrossed in the mystery behind the indigo prophecy and the fates of Lucas Kane and those around him.
The only legitimate gripe about this game is that it does involve a rather unusual control system that not everyone will appreciate but one that I felt fit perfectly within the context of the game. The only parts I had difficulty with were the pounding-key sequences involving the R1 and L1 buttons, especially towards the end of the game. Other than that, you will find yourself surprised by how well the "Simon Sez" controller is incorporated into the overall gameplay.
As a final word, I would say that if you are the type that can appreciate a gaming experience that rewards you with a rich well-thought out exposition over big explosions and mindless mayhem, you will definitely not be disappointed in this game.

Don't do everything the same every time. Mix it up.
